Every motor racer harbours the ambition to acquire enough money to afford a fast car and climb into the marquee category which is reserved for the Group 4 Division, undoubtedly where the fastest cars in local racing reside.
On Sunday, when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club hosts its Meet at the South Dakota Circuit, while all eyes will be on every category to be contested, special focus will be placed in Group 4 and the answer is simple, every spectator enjoy the thrill of seeing the fastest cars and some of the best drivers go head to head in a battle for outright supremacy.
They love to see drivers such as Mark Vieira, Kevin Jeffrey, Andrew King, Irfaan Kalamadeen, Danny Persaud and Keith Evelyn put on display their courage, skill and most of all their machine superiority as they fight fiercely for the slightest advantage either on the Clubhouse bend, down the back straights or through the gooseneck, all in an effort to take the chequered flag and bragging rights.
The owners of these monster machines spend huge sums of money on attempting to develop them to the level where they could generate superior speed and reliability that will give them the best advantage of winning.
Over the years, the title of champion has changed hands frequently with King ruling the roost for some time, before Vieira knocked him off his perch and when Jeffrey bought the current machine he uses, he spent a lot of time and money on development and today he is reaping the rewards since he is the holder of the monarchy.
However, the other contenders have not sat on their laurels and allow Jeffrey a free reign, they too have been investing in their own development and when the starting lights signal green on Sunday, and fans could be assured that a frenetic battle will ensue until they enter the homestretch for the line.
Who will it be will be answered on Sunday and motor racing are being advised not to miss what is clearly shaping up to be a showdown not seen so early in the season for some time. Twenty-seven races are listed for the day and spectators could expect a day of exhilarating racing among the best locally and regionally.
