While local ball weavers, fans and ardent lovers of football acted with admirable patience for football activity to resume under the auspices of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA), the Body was busy creating the framework for a smooth and successful restart within its constituency.
This plan will now unfold tomorrow and Sunday with double headers scheduled to be staged in both the Division One and Two Leagues, at the Camp Ayanganna ground.
Starting tomorrow, action kicks off at 18:30 hrs when Georgetown Football Club engages Northern Rangers and that will be followed by the clash between Sunburst Camptown and Fruta Conquerors at 20:30 hrs.
The following day will see action in the Division Two League, at the same venue. In the first game, University of Guyana tackles BK Western Tigers from 13:00hrs and that game will be followed by the encounter between Santos and Houston Stars at 15:00hrs.
Meanwhile, the clubs competing in the Division One League are: Beacon FC, Flamingo FC, Fruta Conquerors FC, Georgetown Football Club, Guyana Police Force, Northern Rangers FC, Pele FC and Sunburst Camptown.
In the Division Two League those competing are: Blackpearl FC, BK Western Tigers FC, Houston Stars FC, Guyana Defence Force (Reserve team), Santos FC (Reserve team), Riddim Squad FC (Reserve), University of Guyana and Alpha United FC (Reserve).
The Division One League will be played over two rounds with 56 matches scheduled and the winner being declared by the club with the most points at the completion of the competition.
The winning team will be awarded $1million, runner-up $700,000, 3rd place $500,000 and 4th place $300,000.
According to a release, the two clubs with the least amount of points at the end of the competition will be relegated to Division Two. In the Division Two League, the victorious club at the end of competition will cart off $500,000, 2nd place $300,000, 3rd place $200,000 and 4th place $100,000.
This League, however, will be played over one round with 28 matches scheduled.
