The ruling administration has forged strategic relations in order to offer scholarships in the field of Biomedical Sciences.
According to an advertisement in a daily publication yesterday, the Government of Guyana in collaboration with the Government of Korea is offering a limited number of scholarships in the East Asian territory for Postgraduate Studies for the 2014/2015 academic year.
Applications for the scholarships are invited from suitably qualified persons for consideration in the Biomedical Sciences field.
The public notice was issued by Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Ministry, Hydar Ally.
The Public Service Ministry is headed by Dr. Jennifer Westford.
The minimum requirement for consideration for students in this regard at the Master’s Degree level is a Bachelor’s Degree which was achieved with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above.
However, another pre-requisite for the programme is that the maximum age for applicants must be no more than 35 years; no minimum age was outlined.
Biomedical Sciences are a set of applied sciences applying portions of natural science or formal science, or both, to develop knowledge, interventions, or technology of use in health care or public health.
All such disciplines as medical microbiology, clinical virology, clinical epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, and biomedical engineering are medical sciences.
And in order for persons to take advantage of the scholarship, they can obtain application forms from the Permanent Secretary, office of the Public Service Ministry situated at 164 Waterloo Street, Georgetown.
Once completed, the applications are to be returned to the same address.
Closing date for the receipt of applications, the advertisement stated, is tomorrow (March 21).
