South New Amsterdam teachers defeated their North counterparts 6-1 in the feature football match of a triple header card that also included male and female teams.
The games were organised by the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) New Amsterdam Branch and Hearts of Oak Masters and were played last Saturday evening under lights at the All Saints Scott Church ground.
South’s demolition was led by Rocky Hudson with a triple and former Berbice player Colin Bowery with a double with Graham Thomas netting the other.
Micah Erskine scored a late goal in injury time to save face for South New Amsterdam.
While the teacher’s game was lopsided, the school children encounters were more competitive.
The boys match up was a bruising affair with the game ending in a 2-2 draw. Scoring for North were Steffon Boucher and Jeremy Samuels, while South got their goals off the boots of Stafford Edwards and Orin Glen.
In the female students encounter, North New Amsterdam defeated their South counterparts’ 2-1.Scoring for North were Taniean Savory and Marsha Narsaiah. South got their goal off the boot of Shantia Leacock.
