The Ministry of Human Services, shelter for children, became the latest recipient of a donation of food items and essentials the Nigerian Student Association of Guyana, (NISAG).
The batch of Nigerian students, who are studying medicine in Guyana, visited the Drop in Centre to make the donation, on Friday.
The group, which consists of some 20 students conducting medical studies, attends the University of Guyana, Texila American University and the American International University, (AIU).
President of NISAG, Samuel Obiegbusi, presented the items to Matron of the shelter, Ms Lynette Roberts, in the presence of the residents.
The donation included clothing, shoes, handbags, bath towels, pampers, toiletries, beverages, snack food, milk, cooking oil, and other essentials and goodies.
During the ceremony, members of the Nigerian team also offered the children simple advice and encouraged them to set goals from themselves.
In his remarks, Obiegbusi urged the youngsters to work diligently to achieve goals. “Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability.”
Student Chaplain, Innocent Jarrel, advised the children to render good deeds. “If you do good, good will follow you.”
Employees of the centre also expressed gratitude to the group for the kind deed and assured the members that the items will be used to improve the lives of the children.
