Grove Hi Tech continued their winning form whilst Diamond United sealed the biggest win of their fledgling career when play in the Trophy Stall/East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-15 League continued at the Grove Playfield on Saturday last.
The home team, Grove, playing the feature game, were 4-0 victor over Herstelling Football Club thanks to a double strike from Randy Smartt in the 37th and 44th minute. Denzil Crawford had opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, while the deal was sealed in the 53rd minute when Threvon Pluck rocked the nets.
The defeat was Herstelling third in as many matches whilst it was Grove’s third win in as many matches.
Diamond, coming off a win against Herstelling in their previous match, maintained their winning ways with a hard fought 2-1 win over Soesdyke Falcons.
Ixios Da Silva put Diamond in the lead in the 6th minute, a lead which they enjoyed until the 28th minute when the Soesdyke lads neutralized proceedings, thanks to a well taken shot by Shane Meusa.
The half time ended 1-1 but six minutes after the break, Diamond were again in the lead this time it was Teon Forde who found the back of the nets, the game ended at the same score.
Second round action will start this Saturday with all the teams aiming to improve on their first round showing. The first to fourth placed teams will be rewarded with trophies compliments of sponsor, Trophy Stall while gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the first, second and third placed teams.
The highest goal scorer will receive the Golden Boot Trophy, MVP the Golden Ball trophy, best goalkeeper the Golden Glove trophy whilst the most disciplined team will receive the Fair Play trophy. The best coach will also be rewarded.
