– St. Winifred and Tutorial disqualified from tournament
Action in the clash between Chase Academy and Queen’s College yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground.
Marlon Nedd kept up his goal-scoring prowess when he fired in five goals to lead Carmel on a rampage in their clash against David Rose yesterday as play in the Milo/Petra Organisation Schools Football Competition continued, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Nedd, who was voted the tournament’s Highest Goal-scorer last year, was in scorching form as he netted in the 2nd, 5th, 22nd, 46th and 48th minutes, while Moses Gritten was in a similar goal hungry mood as he too fired in five goals in the 13th, 15th, 20th, 29th and 40th minutes.
Tevin Curry (23rd and 54th), Jovian Glen (26th and 34th), Nicholas Kirton (27th) and Shivanah Persaud (44th) completed their tally.
In the second game of the day, St. Winifred and Tutorial were both disqualified from the competition after their game had to be abandoned due to fighting among some of the players.
The third game between Kingston High and Richard Ishmael saw the former win 3-1.
On target for the winners were Shawn Grovesnor in the 22nd and 32nd, while Vincent Thomas added the other in the 40th minute.
Responding for Richard Ishmael was Ike Padmore in the 25th.
Queen’s College then registered an impressive 2-0 win over the highly touted Chase Academy with Michael DeSilva netting in the 21st and Jaydev Mona added the other in the 51st.
Chase Academy’s Keon Douglas was red carded in the 61st minute.
The Round of 16 commences next Saturday at the same venue.
