A Cornedlia Ida man who was accused of killing his reputed wife five years ago, has been freed of the charge owing to a no case submission, which was upheld by a Supreme Court Judge, last Friday.
The no case submission was made by Attorneys –at- Law, Latchmie Rahamat and Peter Hugh, who represented murder accused, Ganesh Narine.
Narine was facing Justice Navindra Singh and a mixed 12-member jury for the murder of his reputed wife, Krishnadai Singh, called ‘Geeta.’
Singh of 245 Cornelia Ida, Block ‘X’, was allegedly cornered in her bedroom and stabbed in the region of the heart with a kitchen knife by her abusive, drug-addicted husband on June 12, 2009. The couple was reportedly engaged in a heated argument before the incident took place.
The woman died shortly after at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Relatives claimed that the man had stabbed his wife on a previous occasion and had threatened to kill her more than once.
