A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has extended condolences to the relatives and close friends of Lurlene La Cruz, 39; Lea LaCruz, 14; Lavette La Cruz, three; Labron La Cruz, eight; and Levon LaCruz, one year old.
They all lost their lives when their house was destroyed by fire Friday night.
The party said that it bemoans the tragedy that befell the LaCruz family at Port Kaituma (Barima- Waini Region).
“This tragedy highlights the People’s Progressive Party Civic Administration’s neglect of our hinterland communities and the continued inefficient leadership of the Public Security Sector by Clement James Rohee. Port Kaituma is a large and densely populated community and should have a branch of the Guyana Fire Service,” APNU stated in a press release.
Yesterday APNU, in a press statement, noted the deplorable condition of the physical infrastructure in municipalities and neighbourhood communities.
The Partnership feels that urban, rural and hinterland development is being impeded because of the lack of major investment in public infrastructure and the neglect, to provide essential services like Fire and Ambulance services and trained first responders who can save lives.
