Lusignan overcame Mavericks of West Bank Demerara by 5 wickets when action in the Cheddi Jagan Over-40 T/20 cricket competition commenced last Sunday at Lusignan.
Mavericks batted first and scored 155-3 in 20 overs with Herman Singh scoring 70 (6×4,3×4), Eion Williams made 50 (4×4) and extras assisted with 24. Chandrika Geenarine claimed 2-21. Lusignan replied with 157-5 in 19.4 overs. A. Haniff took 2-25.
Mavericks rebounded to win the softball game which followed. The host took first strike and scored 85-8 in 10 overs to which Mavericks responded with 88-7 in 9.3 overs.
The finals will be played on Sunday at Lusignan. Officials from the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport are expected to be on hand to present the prizes.
