In what may be a case stemming from domestic violence, a Guyanese woman missing in Barbados has been found dead in a bushy area on that island.
According to news reports coming from that island the body of Onicka Malicia Gulliver, 28, was found by police dogs in the Vaucluse area, St. Thomas, yesterday morning.
Gulliver disappeared on Tuesday night sparking a police search.
Relatives in Guyana told Kaieteur News that the dead woman’s mother travelled to Barbados yesterday morning.
Joan Nedd, her aunt said that they heard the news of her disappearance yesterday morning.
Nedd said that she did not have much information but disclosed that Gulliver was the eldest child for her parents. The Gullivers have relatives in several parts of Guyana and are mainly from Georgetown, East Coast of Demerara and Bartica.
The woman was said to have been living at Station Hill, St Michael.
It was unclear who made the report of her disappearance but police say they have held a suspect, indicating that her death may not have been natural.
Media reports in Barbados also indicated that the case may be one of domestic violence.
The case has been attracting attention in Barbados also because of the discovery of a marijuana field in a quarry, during the search for the woman.
