Brian Brackett wins Morris Solomon Accounting Firm tourney
Following a successful Morris Solomon Accounting Firm golf tournament last weekend, this weekend will see local golfers tee off for the inaugural Hadi Worldwide Inc. Medal Play tournament tomorrow at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Hadi Worldwide International, part of the Mohammed group of companies and active supporter of social programmes in depressed communities, is pleased to sponsor this week’s event. The CEO of the Company, Mr. “Shell” Mohammed said his company focuses on poverty alleviation but is happy to be associated with sporting activities as well.
Players will be competing for first, second, third best net as well as best gross and nearest to the pin. There will also be a special prize for the best female player.
Given the excellent weather conditions, and course condition, the field is wide open with last week’s winner Brian Hackett, Colin Ming, and Mark Lashley expected to do very well.
Keen competition is expected from Gavin Todd, Clifford Reis, Alfred Mentore, Ian Gouveia, Munaf Arjune, Pur Persaud, Bholaram Deo, Andre Cummings, Roy Cummings, Matti Weslin, Jack Harry, Sam Harry, Naro Dhanpat, Troy Cadogan, George Bulkan, Kishan Bacchus, David Mohammad and Jerome Khan.
Fierce competition is also expected among Christine Sukhram, Joaan Deo, Shonella Webster and Juliet Prince for the special prize for the best female player.
Meanwhile, as expected it was a keen contest for the Maurice Solomon Accounting Firm Stableford Golf Tournament last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club.
After eighteen holes, Brian Brackett emerged the winner with 36 points followed by veteran Colin Ming with 35 points and former West Indian Test player Joe Solomon also with 35 taking 3rd place.
Ming and Solomon had the same score but using a count back system Colin Ming had a better back nine and was adjudged the winner of the second place. David Mohamed was not far behind, scoring 33 points for the fourth place.
The best female player award went to Christine Sookram while Mark Lashley won the nearest to the pin.
Terrence Jaikarran, representing the Accounting Firm, said that their Principal Maurice Solomon was an avid golf player and their firm was pleased to be part of such a huge turnout of 44 players promising to repeat the same sponsorship in 2015.
Club President Jerome Khan expressed his gratitude for the sponsorship noting that it is very challenging to maintain over 90 acres of land with a small membership and every cent that comes into the Club is utilised for maintenance and infrastructural works.
