If what Irfaan Kalamadeen disclosed to Kaieteur Sport yesterday is true, then the Group 4 Division could see a frenetic battle for supremacy and at the same time provide exhilarating action for the fans who turn up at the South Dakota Circuit to witness the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club March 23 Race Meet.
Group 4 speedster Irfaan Kalamadeen overlooks the work being done to his Mazda RX 7 machine at the team’s garage yesterday.
Kalamadeen, who drives a Mazda RX7 race car, told this newspaper at the Team’s Garage that his team was provided with ample opportunity to make quite a few adjustments to the machine which they’ve done and he anticipates that it will be much quicker than last November and much more competitive.
“We had the chance to improve the aerodynamics on the car, upgrade the cooling system along with the suspension and we believe that we could generate more speed and make us very competitive come race day,” Kalamadeen said.
According to the local speedster, the extra time allowed them to do much needed improvements to the car, while there is the distinct possibility of them testing a new tyre which is touted to make the car quicker as well.
He, however, informed that this is dependent on whether or not they will be able to ship the tyres in time to do testing and assess its reliability and quickness.
Kalamadeen reckoned that drivers such as Mark Vieira, Andrew King, Kevin Jeffrey, Vishok Persaud and Danny Persaud will have a big say when the lights turn green on race day.
The Group according to him will be very competitive and he believes that because everyone had sufficient time to prepare and improve their machines fans could expect an exciting day of racing.
The Group 4 driver extended thanks to ISG Ultra Brand Motor Oils for its continued support and urged that more drivers use the product for extra performance and efficiency.
