Scores of residents of the lower Corentyne benefitted from a medical outreach conducted by the Guyana Defence Force on Sunday last. The outreach was conducted in partnership with the Berbice Cricket Board.
According to Officer Commanding, GDF Medical Corps, Major Pameshwar Netram, the 23-man team provided yeoman service throughout the entire day.
The services conducted included general medical examinations, dental examinations, blood sugar, blood group and haemoglobin tests. Simultaneously, 30 persons received First Aid training during a comprehensive clinic conducted by members of the GDF team.
The participants of the clinic included teachers, students, members of the Berbice Cricket Board and other members of the community.
Major Netram emphasised that partnering with the Berbice Cricket Board to conduct the outreach “is just the GDF’s way of continuing to deliver on its mandate to be of service to the people of Guyana, and to contribute to the nation’s development”.
