…after GT&T wire fell on him
While you are reading this, 21-year-old Tareque Mentore is seeking advice from his lawyer as it relates to suing the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T).
This was after he was almost beheaded yesterday when a GT&T’s phone line fell on him. “The wire wrap around my neck and pull me off my bike,” said Mentore. At the time he was riding his motorbike along Bent Street, Georgetown.
Yesterday, Mentore said that he was heading east along Bent Street, between Haley and Hardina Streets, when the wire “just” fell on him.
“All I know is that I was riding. All of a sudden this wire fell on me and the bike went forward and the wire pulled me backward,” Mentore explained.
He added that he went into GT&T’s head office yesterday to make a report but he was asked to return at a later time. “They tell me to go back but by the time I finish from the station and the hospital, the office was already closed.”
Kaieteur News tried to contact GT&T yesterday but all calls went unanswered
