Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited has joined the list of sponsors for the Rising Sun Turf Club Horserace Meet, which will be held in collaboration with the Shariff Business Entity and Racing Stable ,West Coast Berbice.
The one-day showdown is slated for this Sunday at the Club’s entity Rising Sun, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice. Seven races are listed for the day with over $8.5M up for grabs and so far the activity has attracted over 70 of the best horses in the country.
Republic Bank, Rosignol Branch, through its Manager Imran Sacoor on Wednesday presented a cheque and trophy to co-organizer Mohammed ‘Nankoo” Shariff at the Bank’s office for the G and Lower event.
Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, Gene Equipped (John Dere) Company, Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot West Coast Berbice, Hablaw Meat Centre, Berbice River Bridge and the Shariff Business Enterprise are already on board, joining Jumbo Jet business Enterprise, Shane Seenarine, Inshan Bacchus Hard Running Trucking Company and Racing Stable and Romell Jagroop Construction who had originally offered support.
The feature C class event has a total prize money of over $2M with the winner set to race away with $1M and trophy compliments of Banks DIH Limited over 1400M.
The other events listed include the event for four year old West Indies maiden and Guyana bred horses over 1400M for $400,000 first prize and trophy. The three-year-old race for West Indies and Guyana bred and born animals will be sponsored by Gene Equipped (John Dere) Company for a winning purse of $300,000 and trophy.
The F Class event has a winner’s prize of $400,000 and trophy and is also over 1400M. The G3 and lower showdown will see the animals running for the $300,000 first prize in an 1100M contest.
There is a race for I class horses with a first prize of $250,000 and trophy over 1100M on offer, while the final race is for animals classified J and lower for a winner’s prize of $180,000 and trophy.
Top individual performers including champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable will be presented with accolades compliments of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse racing Authority and bugle time is 13:00 hrs.
Among some of the top horses entered are: Treacle, Swing Easy, Run Nana Run, Mission King, Force Entry, I want Revenge, Settle In Seattle, Got to Go, Today is My Day, the Message, CP Got Even, Red and Lovely and California Strike, Cat Messiah, Fairy Landing, Ameer’s Joy, Savion, Easy to win, Unsettled, Gold Princess, War Craft, Silent Night, Fresh Again, Wild Grinder, Lady Secret, De Gump, Gold Rush, Top of The line, Mary Ann, Damascus Dream, Monsoon, Shooting Star, Wild Grinder, Speed Vision and Piece of the Cash among others.
