Determined to attract a large crowd at all of its calendar activities, the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) March 23 Race Meet is anticipated to draw a large turnout judging from the list of confirmed competitors.
According to an official from the entity, overseas-based drivers such as Paul Vieira of Canada, Trinidad and Tobago’s Ravi Singh, Suriname’s Oliver Tjin Liep Shie and Barbados’ Mohamed Bhanna, among others, are slated to participate in the event.
The official added that the new executive have drawn up a plan which is designed to aggressively market the sport from the first event on its calendar and the desirable turnout at the Endurance and Dexterity Meets is testimony to the entity’s new posture.
It was also learnt that most of the country’s top drivers and riders will be in action and this is good news for the fans since rivalry in all the categories will be renewed among the competitors.
Among the highly anticipated rivalries that fans could look forward to is the one between rising Superbike star Nikhil Seereeram and long time champion Stephen Vieira, while Kevin Jeffrey’s dominance of the Group 4 Division should be tested by former champions Andrew King and Mark Vieira along with a new brigade that includes Danny Persaud and Irfaan Kalamadeen.
The Group 3 category is another division that the fans should enjoy with Ryan Rahaman, Ravi Singh, Kemal Rahaman and Kamal Seebarran set to re-ignite their long standing duel.
The Group 2 category promises to be no different with Shairaz Roshandin, Syed Hassan, Afraz Allie, Tjin Liep Shie and Chet Singh, all eager to put on a show for the fans.
The Group 1 should be dominated by the Ali brothers (Roshan and Asad) of Fullworks, but this Group too is fast becoming very competitive and another looming showdown is in the making.
The Shifter karters have also promised to entertain and once again Seereeram, Stanley Ming Jnr, Stanley Ming Snr, Marcus Fiedtkou and lone female Emmy Vieira will be vying for top honours.
It should be nerve tingling racing and fans are being urged to make it a date to be at the South Dakota Circuit to see Guyana’s best take to the track.
