Still very much in the recovery stage after suffering multiple strokes, veteran broadcaster Chandra Narine (C.N.) Sharma is back on the airwaves, following numerous demands from the public .
Sharma returned to the airwaves after a lengthy absence owing to illness, and wasted no time in revisiting corruption, injustice and some of the other themes which had made him a household name for nearly two decades.
Flanked by his son Jaipaul, engineer and Prime Ministerial candidate for the Justice for All Party, Geoffrey Sankies, Sharma showed obvious signs of illness as he struggled with some words and themes but nevertheless rallied through at least two regular ‘Justice for all’ call-in programmes. Sharma told Kaieteur News yesterday that that he is very pleased to be back on the air, doing what he does best, “having a voice for those whose voices are not heard.”
He told this publication that following his stroke he has been away from the public arena for two years. He said he is however on air twice a week, but that is based on how well he feels. The main reason for returning Sharma explained, “Is because the people are asking for me; hundreds of people.”

He was very specific however that he is still the leader of the Justice for All Party, which according to him, is very much alive and active, especially since it is part of the coalition of political parties that form A Partnership for National Unity.
Sharma’s television show is extremely popular among those who would be described as the ‘less fortunate’ or ‘voiceless.’ The Justice for All daily call-in show is usually filled with callers seeking to highlight some form of injustice which they feel has been meted out to them. Sharma is also well known for capturing and broadcasting a series of historical and memorable events such as the ‘Blackie’ London showdown with the police at Eccles in 2000.
Sharma’s health however, deteriorated following allegations of sexual impropriety by under aged girls. Sharma had to make several court appearances after being charged. At one point Sharma had to be rushed to the public hospital after being taken to the Brickdam lock ups.
