“I want to congratulate the association for the work they continue to do annually, which is one of the reasons they won so many of the national awards,” Kumar said, adding that the association is an example of what national bodies should produce annually.
President of the GTTA Godfrey Munroe won ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ as Chelsea Edghill won her second ‘Junior Sportswoman of the Year’ award; the GTTA also got ‘Sport Association of the Year’ while Shemar Britton was Runner-up Junior Sportsman.
Kumar said that the fact that Britton attends Queens College and Edghill attends Bishops’s High School is testament to the fact that high academic standards can work hand-in-hand with a sports career. He encouraged the players to follow such example.
Munroe then congratulated the players on their various performances and thanked the parents for their unyielding support. Munroe stated that the association will continue to strive for excellence in an effort to remain active and relevant throughout the year.
