Now that the Dexterity Race Challenge has come and gone, the eyes of motor racers and fans will be focused on the opening event of Circuit racing as the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages a Meet on March 23, at the South Dakota Circuit.
According to word from the entity, the cream of the country’s top racers will be
on show as they seek to use the event as a precursor for the opening leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) tentatively scheduled for Jamaica.
Among those anticipated to compete are past and present champions Kevin Jeffrey, Shairaz Roshandin, Roshan Ali, Stephen Vieira, young Nikhil Seereeram, Danny Persaud, Chet Singh, Mark Vieira, Afraz Allie, Syed Hassan, Ryan Rahaman and Andrew King.
A source from the club informed Kaieteur News that they are expecting most of the country’s best racers have already signalled their intention to take to the starting grid and fans could expect a great day of racing despite it being the season opener.
“The club is expecting a large turnout and an aggressive promotion via the social media and the press will commence shortly,” the official stated.
Asked whether competitors from overseas will be participating, the officials said while he cannot confirm at this time, efforts are being made to invite racers from overseas.
