St. Mary’s and North Ruimveldt showed little mercy on their respective opponents en route to similar 7-0 wins as play in this year’s Milo/Petra Organisation Schools Football Competition continued yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
In the first fixture of the day, St. Mary’s led by a treble from Raphael
Charles (45th, 48th and 56th) hammered School of Nations. Charles’ effort was supported by a brace from Colin Denny (55th and 64th) and solitary strikes off the boots of Curtez Kellman (4th) and Lennox Cort (32nd).
The victory means that St. Mary’s have now won one and drawn one game.
In the game that followed, North Ruimveldt fresh off a 6-0 thrashing of North Georgetown continued their high scoring pattern with a 7-0 demolition of Freeburg with Jamal Europe firing in a hat-trick in the 13th, 40th and 56th minutes of play, while Jeremy Garnett added a double in the 41st and 53rd minutes.
Tyrese Rowley in the 33rd and Carl Griffith in the 36th completed their tally.
In the third encounter, South Ruimveldt squeezed past Cummings Lodge 2-1 with Kevin McPherson and Keith Caines netting in the 16th and 21st minutes respectively.
Defending champions St. George’s coasted to a comfortable 2-0 win over Charlestown in the final clash of the day.
On target for the champions were Jermaine Scott in the 12th and Ozeal Small in the 69th.
The competition resumes today with four more matches at the same venue.
