Dear Editor,
It is my desire that you publish this missive in your daily column this week, as one “AUTHORITY” on the National Insurance Scheme, has failed to recognize that this institution is a Social Security entity meaning that ALL ARE EQUAL, under this umbrella and that there must not be any discrimination whatever.
Every year, Government authorises an increase for Public Servants and all retirees, yet this Authority on NIS, on occasions, discriminates in this award, by paying this award only to those receiving the minimum pension, avoiding the yearly increase to those pensioners receiving above the minimum. Indeed this is not SOCIAL SECURITY!
In 2011 an increase of eight per cent was announced for all Public Sector retirees, the only Pensioners who received this increase were those at the minimum level, no increase for those receiving above the minimum.
Another increase, on this occasion five per cent retroactive, as always to the previous year, this instance 2013, would be payable from 2014.
It is rumored that only the minimum pensioners will be receiving this increase. I am awaiting the reading of budget 2014 to see the quantity of increase to be awarded on this occasion and to see the action of this Authority on National Insurance Scheme.
Concerned Pensioner
