The new executive of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) held their first meeting on Saturday last and agreed that Sunday April 6, 2014 is the date for their Novice and Junior championships.
A venue has to be confirmed, the federation said that they have a few air marked and the most suitable one would be decided upon shortly.
The Novice competition is designed as the first step to becoming a star in the sport, while the junior level is stage two. The young guns will be coming out with all muscles and power blazing as they seek to outdo each other to claim the title of the best novice and junior in the land.
Athletes desirous of competing are being encouraged to make contact with the GAPF Public Relations Officer Mr. Paul Adams for further details and registration forms. A fee of $1,000 would be charged, the closing date for registration is March 28, 2014.

The GAPF further informs that athletes who are not registered members will be required to do so before competing. Applicants are being urged to register on time so as to allow adequate provision of trophies for competitors in the respective weight categories.
