After an eight-year absence, Dexterity Racing will return to the National Park when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages the event on March 1, starting from 16:00 hrs.
In its continued effort to develop the skills of drivers and at the same time provide family entertainment for members, friends and fans, the GMR&SC has organised the Race Challenge which will see drivers use normal road while having fun in a controlled environment.
Speaking to an official from the Club, he said while the aim is to resuscitate this form of entertainment, the entity also intends to bring back racing within the Georgetown environ after a prolonged absence.
In disclosing information about the format of the event, the official said it will take the form of an elimination process where a course will be designed with pylons and drivers given instructions on how to drive through it.
“One car will be allowed at a time and you will be racing against the clock and your time will be taken to see who does it the fastest. The first 20 vehicles move on to the other round to another elimination where a new course will be implemented,” he outlined.
According to him, the event will test maximum skill of acceleration, braking and turning and the driver and car should become one and be able to move through the course as quickly as possible.
He added that to participate in the event, a driver do not need a specially built race car just the requisite skills.
Drivers willing to be part of the action can contact the GMR&SC on Albert Street, Thomas Lands today.
