Berbicians and those visiting the Ancient county, especially New Amsterdam, now have an added option in terms of choice of eating houses.
This is because a new eating facility was recently opened in New Amsterdam.
The restaurant named Topaz which is the brainchild of overseas-based Guyanese, Ryan A.A. Rambarran, and his wife, Surya, who reside in Canada, is situated on the western half of the ground floor of the Dave’s Building at Lot 12 Chapel Street, New Amsterdam.
That property is also owned by the Rambarran Family.
Topaz offers for now, both Guyanese and Canadian cuisines. According to Rambarran, much more exotic dishes, including Korean and other Asian dishes, are to come on stream.
The ribbon-cutting was done by the two children of the proprietors. The blessing of the building was done by Archdeacon of the Anglican Church Randolph Reynolds. Special invitees were given a tour of the restaurant and a sample of the dishes. The restaurant has a special section for vegetarians.
Mrs. Rambarran stated, “The public can expect a variety of exquisite dishes and hopefully they will enjoy our cooking, especially in the vegetarian section.”
She took the opportunity to thank those who supported their venture and anticipates the overwhelming support of the public.
PPP/C, Member of Parliament, Faizal Jaffarally, congratulated the Rambarrans for their investment which he states shows their confidence in the country.
He applauded the Rambarran family for another venture in the town. Looking at their success in the television and photographic industry one can only say that whenever they embark on a project, we can expect quality service and we know that this Restaurant will be one of the best, he stated.
Among other prominent members of the society who attended the ceremony were Educator Mrs. Paulette Henry, Pastor Williams of Prayer Palace, Anna Seepaul of Wattsan Catering, and Public Health Inspector attached to the New Amsterdam Mayor and Town Council – Ackloo Ramsudh.
