A Charity Squatting area resident who allegedly raped a fellow unemployed Charity Squatting area female resident, Monday night, at Charity had to be forcefully restrained by the police after he was told by Magistrate Sunil Scarce that he would be imprisoned until a date in March.
The defendant attempted to jump through the court window onto the concrete below.
Francis Gonsalves, 28, was charged indictably with rape and appeared at the Suddie Magistrate’s court on Thursday.
Police contended that George attacked and subsequently lured Devon George, of Charity Squatting area into some bushes where he forcefully raped her sometime around 22:30 hours Monday night.
George had earlier told the police that she was in the company of a friend at a rum shop in Charity Monday afternoon.
She said that upon her departure from the shop to her home, Gonsalves raped her.
Gonsalves was apprehend by the police the following day and charged with the offence.
