A 20-year-old man died Wednesday morning following yet another accident. Dead is Quacy-Quinn Leigh of 234 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme.
According to reports, Leigh was riding his bicycle along Homestretch Avenue Tuesday evening when he was struck from behind by a speeding car.
The driver of the vehicle, who has been released on station bail, transported the injured Leigh to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Denise Bishop, the dead man’s mother, told Kaieteur News yesterday that her son had just left basketball practice at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
She said that she was told by an eyewitness that the car struck her son from behind. The woman said that upon her arrival at the hospital she was confronted with the grim news. “I was told that his left leg and hand were broken….and he had major head injuries.”
Bishop said that it was around 6:00 hrs on Wednesday that she received a call from the hospital informing her of the death. A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle is also expected to be charged on Tuesday.
