Bacchus stables also outstanding
‘Got to Go’ of the Jumbo Jet Stable took the feature event to lead a string of dominant performances by horses of that entity when the Port Mourant Turf Club in collaboration with the Jumbo Jet Business Establishment and Racing Stables held a grand One day Horserace meet on Sunday at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
‘Got To Go’, ridden by Colin Ross and trained by top trainer Deonarine “Black Boy” Ramroop, was in top form as it came down the homestretch with blistering speed to take the feature D1 and lower event and the $1M top money from Run Nana Run and Red and Lovely with Milwaukee Blitz, running in its first race in Guyana, taking the fourth spot in the 1500M event compliments of the Jumbo Jet business enterprise.
The animals were out fast and with 11 horses taking to the track there were some initial jostling as they headed into open country and the lead changed hands constantly as the riders pushed their charge forward for the early advantage. As the speed picked up and the animals hit the home stretch the race was still wide open. Some bad riding and some more jostling cost some of the animals considerable ground as Ross took full advantage on Got to Go to push it over the finish line.
Unsettled of the up and coming Inshan Bacchus stable was a big winner as horses of that entity also had a good day on the track as it won the Three year old co-feature 1200M event. Ridden by Trinidadian Jockey Nicholas Patrick, the animal accelerated down the homestretch to beat Release the Beast, Today is my Day and Time to dance in the 10 horse field. The win was worth
$600,000 and trophy.
The E1 and lower 1200M event saw Captain Crook of the Jumbo Jet stable, piloted by Patrick, being a straight winner from Damascus Dream, Fairy landing and the Message as it took the $500,000 and trophy available.
It was a happy day for the Bacchus stable as they were back in winners’ row in the four year 1500M event for Guyana and West Indies bred horses. Ameera’s Joy, with Patrick in saddle, raced away from its opponents to take the $500,000 and trophy. Another Jet, It’s my Turn and Monsoon were the others that placed.
The Jumbo Jet stable started things off nicely with Appealing Harvest and Ross taking the $400,000 and trophy in the G1 and lower 1200M event from Damascus Dream, Top of the Line and Rosetta.
I want Revenge of the Jumbo Jet stable with Ajai in the saddles took advantage of its opponents to win the “I” and lower 1000 event and the $250,000 winning take from Mary Ann, Savion and Affinity.
Piece of Cash of The Crawford/Persaud stable with Yap Drepaul on the mount took the lion’s
share of the takings available as it romped ahead of Lady Secret, Famous Pride and Iron Man in winning the J and lower race and the $200,000 purse.
The champion Jockey on show was Nicholas Patrick with Deonarine “Black Boy” Ramroop copping the champion trainer award and The Jumbo Jet entity the champion stable accolade.
Over 90 horses were entered for the day’s meet which had over $10M at stake.
The day’s event was incident free and with a new GHRA body under Mr. Vic Oudit, must be commended for making a gallant effort to improve things.
For most of the day the crowd was off the track and the police were commended for doing an excellent job. (Samuel Whyte)
