Vincent Indial, 28, was killed on the Corentyne Highway when he lost control of his motorcycle CJ1042 and crashed into a utility pole.
Indial, a former US Army Officer and two other bikers were reportedly drag racing on their CBR motorcycles.
The accident occurred in the vicinity of Clifton Settlement, Corentyne.
According to reports, his head was almost decapitated as a result of the impact and his right shoulder was also almost dislocated.
Bits and pieces of human flesh were visible about the crash scene and blood stains were visible on the utility pole.
The man reportedly lost control whilst approaching a turn on the road and hit a road sign before slamming into the utility pole.
The impact reportedly broke off a lighting fixture on the pole which was left hanging from its suspension.
This publication was told that the motorcycle after hitting the utility pole was hurled several feet landing in a resident’s yard some three houses away from the point of impact.
Indial was picked up and rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is awaiting a post mortem examination.
His other two colleagues are in custody as investigations continue.
According to reports the men were part of a larger group that had earlier attended the Rotary Club 20/20 cricket match and Car and Bike Show at the Cumberland playfield.
They had reportedly been imbibing and at the time of the accident were heading home.
The police in a subsequent statement said that they are investigating the fatal accident
that occurred about 02:00 hrs yesterday morning on the Main Road at Clifton Settlement, Corentyne, which resulted in the death of motorcyclist Vincent Indial, of Cromarty, Corentyne.
