A flamboyant exhibition, which depicts folklore from various ethnic groups, as well as aspects of Mashramani parades, flag-raising and masquerade, is on at the National Museum.
The exhibition, which is part of a series of activities slated to commemorate Guyana‘s 44th Republic anniversary celebration, is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the National Museum.
The annual showcase was officially opened on Tuesday, by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony, who noted that the exhibition will aid in propagating the unique history that Guyana possesses.
Minister Anthony encouraged persons, especially school children to visit the exhibition for a detailed insight into local heritage and artifacts since the theme of this year’s Mash festivity is “Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44”.
Apart from the National Museum, another exhibition which highlights pieces of Guyanese sculpture is scheduled for Castellani House. A Republic Lecture Series by Clem Seecharran is another commemorative activity on the Mash schedule.
Mr. Seecharran is also well versed in the history of cricket, and will be engaging cricket enthusiasts in a special lecture in that regard.
The exhibition will conclude on March 8.
