5 wkt hauls for Budhu, Nizamuddeen

Raymond Harper stroked seven sixes and three fours in a top score of 82 as Regal defeated Industry Super kings by 56 runs when the inaugural Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc (GSCL Inc) Republic Cup 20 overs tournament kicked off yesterday.
Batting first in the Masters category at Everest, Regal posted 188-5 in 20 overs. Tony Amerally supported Harper with 42 and J. Persaud took 2-22. Industry were bowled out for 132 in 17.2 overs in response. C. Gangadin scored 43; Seeraj Satro bagged 4-27 and Mahendra Arjune 2-33.
Regal thumped Savage by 81 runs in another fixture. Regal rattled up 208-5 in 20 overs, batting first. Harper led with 68, while Amerally scored 61; N. Ramsaywack had 2-37. Savage were bowled out for 127 in 19.2 overs in reply. Rama Malone scored 45; Mahendra Hardyal snared 3-35, L. Squires 2-17 and Mahendra Arjune 2-23.
At Eve Leary, Floodlight beat Industry by 8 wickets. Industry managed 142-7 in 20 overs, taking first strike. Jagdesh Persaud was their leading batsman with 43, while Dennis Mangru made 33 and David Harper 28. Richard Kellawan and Rahaman Khan snared two wickets apiece. Floodlight replied with 147-2. Imtiaz Mohamed stroked 49 and Ramesh Narine 44. K. Ramcharran took 2-23.
At DCC, Parika Defenders overcame Success by 11 runs. Parika batted first and scored 127 all out in 19.2 overs. Asif Ahmad slammed 91; R. Baljit had 3-9. In response, Success were bowled out for 113 in 19.4 overs. B. Muller got 32; Ramesh Rambharose took 3-21.
Parika lost to Mike’s Wellman by 4 wickets. Parika scored 137 before they were bowled out in 17 overs. Rambharose scored 48; Nandram Samlall claimed 3-8 and Rajendra Singh 2-29. Mike’s Wellman replied with 139-6 in 16.2 overs. Greg De Franco top scored with 60 and S. Alli captured 3-36.
Frontline Rangers overcame Success by 100 runs. Frontline accumulated 178-6 in 20 overs, batting first. Rafeek Alli scored 38; R. Khan and D. Mohabir picked up three wickets each. Success were knocked over for 78 in 16. 1 overs in reply. K. Ramesh made 22 as Riley Persaud claimed 4-12.
In the Open category at Everest, Memorex beat DVD Titans by 4 wickets. DVD Titans batted first and scored 164-9 in 20 overs. M. Baldeo made 30, Y. Sukhlall, 29 and S, De Freitas 28; Wahied Edwards and Keon Sinclair claimed three wickets each. Memorex replied with 165-6 in 19 overs. David Lukenauth scored 49, Roy Jafferally 31 and Davendra Ramoutar 27. Baldeo took 3-20 and Troy Gonsalves 2-34.
Wolf’s Warriors went down to Trophy Stall by 3 wickets. Wolf’s Warriors took first strike and were bowled out for 132 in 19.2 overs. Amrit Rai scored 22 as Seenarine Budhu bagged 5-19. Trophy Stall responded with 137-7 in 16.4 overs. Fazal Rafiek led with 52 while Dianand Singh had two wickets.
Farm lost to Wolf’s Warriors by 9 wickets. Farm were skittled for 59 in 13 overs, batting first. Amir Nizamuddeen grabbed 5-6 for the Warriors who replied with 60-1 in 5.1 overs. Mohamed Karim made 39.
Regal overcame Memorex by 8 runs . Regal posted 185-9 in 20 overs after taking first strike. Navin Singh slammed 68, Ricardo Adams 36 and Khalid Haslim 22. Vijay Phillips claimed 3-34, Sinclair 2-35 and Edwards 2-41. Memorex managed 177-9 in 20 overs in reply. Jafferally struck 71; Balram Roopnarine and Mohamed Ayube picked up two wickets apiece.
At Eve Leary, Trophy Stall got the better of Speed Boat by 3 wickets. Speed Boat made 157 all out in 18.2 overs with Greg Singh top scoring with 68 and Sewchan Budhu claimed 4 wickets. Trophy Stall responded with 160-7 in 18 overs. Randy Katwaroo was their leading batsman with 28 while Kumar Bissoondyal supported with 26; Singh took three wickets.
Farm defeated Speed Boat by 8 runs. Farm took first strike and scored 156 all out in 19.2 overs with Lennox Marks getting 22. A. Persaud captured 3-17 and Singh 2-21. Speed Boat mustered 148 all out in 18.5 overs in reply. O. Narine made 23; Riaz Karim and Patrick Khan had three wickets each. The competition continues today.
