A Kuru-Kururu man was killed on the spot after his head was crushed by a sand truck on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway yesterday around 16:00 hours.

From all indications the man who was still unidentified up to late last night, threw himself into the path of the truck despite the efforts of the driver to avoid hitting him. The accident occurred about one mile from the Linden/Soesdyke Highway intersection.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that the truck was heading to Linden when the pedestrian wandered into its path.
The truck driver, Leon Benjamin, who was taken into custody to assist police with their investigations, told this newspaper that he was proceeding at a normal rate of speed when he saw the man walking at the side of the road.
“By de time de truck ready fuh pass de guy, he throw he body under de truck,” Benjamin said.
Several persons were left dumbstruck when they saw the dead man lying in a pool of blood with his brains scattered all over the road.
No one was however, able to identify the victim who is of Amerindian descent and who was clad in a pair of three-quarter denim pants and black and white T-shirt.
The body is at a city mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
