Dear Sports Editor,
After a perusal of cricket clubs and organizations, I have not come across the name “Intikhab Sankar” either as a player or an administrator at any level. I can only assume his passing interest in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) is to support Anand Sanasie whom he admits to knowing very well and respects.
Intikhab Sankar claims that Anand Sanasie has always stood up for his principles and what he believes in but Sankar must be aware that his friend has presented conflicting information in two separate affidavits in a cricket matter before the Supreme Court and has faced other legal issues.
Sankar conveniently ignores the important point expressed by Bhawan Mc Coon that if he (Sankar) is interested in cricket why has he not expressed concern with the charade that passed as elections of the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA)?
None of the clubs on the West Coast of Demerara were invited and only five of the fourteen clubs of the WDCA participated in what could only be described as fraudulent elections.
Sankar may also want to explain why year after year there is no cricket being played on the West Demerara and there is no cricket development programme even at the youth level. Yet Sankar has the temerity to question Roger Harper’s leadership as it relates to the GCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) which even being held late will be attended by all its constituent members and will stand up to scrutiny.
Apart from the elections held on the West Demerara which installed Sanasie as a Vice-President, Sankar may want to check on the elections of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) where two court orders were blatantly disregarded. Then he may want to find out how were the elections of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) held when there was no legitimate Demerara Cricket Board. With Berbice being absent, the Essequibo Cricket Board could not alone hold elections of the GCB.
Sankar may also want to enquire of his friend Sanasie as to his involvement in the elections of the Essequibo Cricket Board, the Leguan Cricket Association and the East Bank Cricket Association where he was the “Returning Officer”.
Sanasie is now actively campaigning in the upcoming Georgetown Cricket Association AGM and is even aspiring to be the Returning Officer there also.
Sankar challenges Roger Harper to respond to him. I am quite sure that Roger, being the dignified gentleman that he is and who has played the game with distinction at the highest level, will answer Sankar and Sanasie in the most appropriate way – with continued progress and development of cricket in Georgetown by dint of commitment and unquestionable experience and hard work.
In closing, I wish to remind Intikhab Sankar that Roger Harper is a national hero and was bestowed with a “Medal of Service” for his outstanding and distinguish service to the game of cricket.
Yours faithfully,
Chandraballi Ramsaroop
Former youth cricketer
