The emergent Public Policy Civil Society Organization (CSO), the Guyana National Council on Public Policy (GNCPP), has continued its outreach to the international Heads of Missions to Guyana within recent days.
After a productive encounter with American Ambassador Dr. Brent Hardt
a fortnight ago, GNCPP delegations were this week hosted by Mexican Ambassador Francisco Olguin Uribe and British High Commissioner Andrew Ayre.
At these getting-to-know you sessions Chairman and Leader of the CSO Advocate Group Think Tank, Dr. Philip H. Mozart Thomas outlines the Mission, objectives and roles of the organization as well as its achievements so far and its proposed programmes for this year and beyond.
The GNCPP delegation members would all address their specific areas of activity in the context of Guyana’s Civil Society and their support for GNCPP’s strategy to support and empower other like-minded independent and patriotic NGO’s.
The Heads of Mission all have, so far, welcomed the GNCPP’s initiatives in principle including the proposed Guyana National Civil Society Conference scheduled for mid-year.
This purpose of this conference will be in part to put in place in accordance with Article 13 of the Constitution of Corporative Republic of Guyana the first ever Guyana National Civil Society Council (GNCSC).
Dr.Thomas, in addition to being an international Corporate Attorney and Legal Representative for a number of high profile companies and projects abroad holds a PhD in Government, Diplomacy and International Relations.
Joined by a number of other professionals, UG students and veterans in a variety of fields, Dr. Thomas as a Civil Society Advocate, subscribes to the use of Guyana’s Constitution, litigation and mass education to claim Civil Society’s prescribed space and role to speak truth to power whilst monitoring Guyana’s political managers in the interest of the greater good.
GNCPP has also welcomed the “TRIPARTITE” stakeholder approach now being adopted by many International Donors and Financial Institutions. This strategy involves the independent and distinct input from the Donor Agency, the Government and Civil Society to collaborate on how donated resources are used.
