At a simple ceremony held recently, Ashiek and Son Motor Supplies and Auto Sales threw their support behind the Young Warriors Cricket Club fundraising cricket tournament – Mash Cup 2014 – 2nd Edition.
Ray Jahoor (left) of Ashiek and Son Motor Supplies and Auto Sales hands over a cheque to Hubern Evans, coach of YWCC in the presence of Sahadeo Singh and Devin Sookraj.
This tournament involves 2nd division teams along the #19 Road and East Canje, Berbice and is a 5 overs-a-side competition and will be played on Mash day, February 23rd, 2014. Ten teams will participate and the day is expected to be an action-packed one for the entire family. Incentives and gate prizes to the value of over $300,000 will be up for grabs.
In an invited comment during the presentation ceremony, Secretary/Treasurer of the Club and organizer of the tournament, Anil Beharry, expressed thanks to Ashiek and Son for their sponsorship. He further stated that the 1st Edition in 2013 was a tremendous success and proceeds raised from that event helped the club to acquire international quality covers for the pitch area at the cost of close to $600,000.
Ray Jahor, Managing Director of the company, said that he was pleased to be a part of this tournament for the 2nd time and he is also pleased with the way the club is conducting their business.
Proceeds from this event will go towards further development of the Club’s host venue located in Cumberland Village, East Canje, Berbice. Admission is $200 and tickets are available in advance from the executives and members of the club. There will be a well stocked bar, music and entertainment for the kids.
