A Barr Street Kitty resident was yesterday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by Magistrate Fabayo Azore after she found him guilty of burgling the house of another Kitty resident.
Yesterday, the trial for Mark Mangal who was accused of break and enter and larceny concluded at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court after the presiding Magistrate ruled in favour of the prosecution.
Lance Corporal Renetta Bentham, who prosecuted, managed to prove that on September 5, 2013, Mangal broke and entered the dwelling house of Paul Booker on David Street, Kitty and stole $742,000 worth in electrical items.
On September 30, last year, he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry who subsequently transferred the matter to Magistrate Azore, before whom the trial was conducted.
After listening to the six witnesses who testified on behalf of the Prosecution, the Magistrate found him guilty and sentenced him to prison.
