Senior government officials convened by the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) are meeting in Guyana to review national and regional priorities for youth development.
The meeting scheduled for today and tomorrow will be opened by Minister of Culture Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony.
The summit starts at 09:00hrs today and will be hosted at the Regency Suites on Hadfield Street Georgetown.
Representatives from several commonwealth member countries are expected to be in attendance.
Apart from the host, participating countries include Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Trinidad and Tobago.
The meeting follows closely from the November 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Sri Lanka at which leaders vowed to put young people at the head of policy making for sustainable development.
