Police are seeking 21-year old Steve Richard Bacchus whom they want to question in relation to the death of Police Special Constable Quincy Wright. Wright was shot dead last Friday night.
The Force issued a wanted bulletin for the suspect, assuring that any information that could lead to his arrest will be treated with the strictest confidence.
Wright, a 26-year-old Police Mounted Branch rank, with two daughters, aged four and one year old, was shot dead at around 22:30 hrs on Friday, during a confrontation with another man outside an Arapaima Street, Guyhoc Park residence.
A woman who witnessed the shooting said that Wright became involved in an argument with the suspect after the man “looked into his face.”
The man has since been positively identified as Steve Bacchus.
Police described the suspect as medium built and of African descent.
They are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to his arrest to contact them on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-2227, 226-7065, 227-1149, 911 or the nearest police station.
Investigators believe that Constable Wright was shot with a .38 revolver that was stolen from a security guard the previous day.
It is believed that the suspect, who was known as ‘Fat Boy’, or ‘Helmet Head’, was among a group of men who relieved two security guards of the revolver on Thursday night in North Sophia.
One of the guards was shot in the groin and the other was reportedly beaten.
