Four mini-excavators have been acquired by the Region Two Administration from the Government. The acquisition came during the period of the recent breach at Airy Hall.
The equipment is intended to enhance the prevailing drainage situation in both the housing and residential areas, throughout Essequibo.
Region Two Chairman, Parmanand Persaud, has indicated that the equipment was obtained through the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) and will be managed by NDIA.
He however warned that all earthen and concrete bridges that were erected by residents and positioned over drainage bridges and circumference pipes or tubes will be removed.
Most recently, areas in the Pomeroon, Cozier, Airy-Hall and within the Charity Housing Scheme experienced continuous flooding.
Blame continues to be laid against the local NDC’s by the wider Essequibo society who continues to be the victims of flooding whenever they are a prolonged period of rainfall.
Many continue to argue that if drains and trenches within those areas are kept clean flooding would be minimized significantly.
