Efforts are ongoing to locate the body of 34-year-old Ryan Brown, of Bartica, Essequibo, who disappeared near an area called Itakie Falls, in the Mazaruni River on Sunday.
According to a statement from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) Brown reportedly disappeared under the torrents of the river at approximately 10:00hrs on Sunday.
According to MARAD the incident took place while Brown was attempting to secure a boat to a nearby rock when he slipped and went under water.
Brown was the crew member of a vessel proceeding up-river to Seamang with a consignment of cargo.
The Maritime Administration Department is continuing its investigations.
