For the fifth successive year, Dependable Spares and King Panel of Eccles, East Bank Demerara found it favorable to join forces with the Queenstown based Demerara Cricket Club (DCC).
On Thursday morning, the corporate entity made a donation of an undisclosed sum to the club which is presently leading the points standing in Zone B of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Carib Beer first division T20 tournament, while they have also agreed to have their business logo fitted on to the club’s recently acquired uniform.
DCC president Alfred Mentore said he was happy to have the sponsor on board for the fifth consecutive year, noting that sponsorship is hard to come by, for which the club and himself is grateful.
Manager of Dependable Spares Raymond Baksh (3rd from right) presents one of the jerseys to national skipper and captain of Demerara Cricket Club’s first division team Christopher Barnwell in the presence of, from left Bertram Austin, Alfred Mentore, Trevon Griffith, Coach Gavin Nedd and Paul Wintz.
“When we approached Dependable Spares for the first time and sought assistance for our uniforms, which will be used by the first division team, they responded positively to us.
Today we are happy to have them on board once again, to which I must say thanks on behalf of the club and my self, since gestures like these are always worthy to be acknowledged and appreciated” said Mentore.
He informed the audience which also included the club’s three players on this year’s NAGICO Super50 team in skipper Christopher Barnwell, Paul Wintz and Trevon Griffith, that the club which is known as the ‘Home of the Legends’, produced players for every national team that left these shores last year while Barnwell was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the Indian Premier League.
“This was all made possible because of the support from sponsors such as Dependable Spares and King Panel and today I wish to say that while they are giving us a substantial amount of cash, part of it will be used towards other projects at the club”, stated Mentore.
Prior to handing over one of the uniforms to Barnwell and later the cheque to Mentore, Manager of Dependable Spares Raymond Baksh said the donation to the club was in appreciation of their returns, as they wore the brand of his Company with pride.
He congratulated the club on its success over the years, while he urged the trio selected for national duties to go forward and continue being good ambassadors not only for DCC, but Guyana and Dependable Spares as well.
