…assailant on the run
After being accused of stealing a bicycle, 48-year-old Troy Hope called ‘G’, was beaten and stabbed to the neck.
He is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), while law enforcement officers are in search of his attacker, Arnold Henry, who is on the run.
Up to press time yesterday, the injured man, of 98 Ogle Street, Triumph, East Coast Demerara, was waiting to be taken to the male ward of the institution.
According to a female relative, the wound on the left side of Hope’s neck measured several inches, both his knees are swollen and he is experiencing a lot of pain in the stomach, apparently due to the ‘blows’ he received.
The incident resulting in the man’s injuries allegedly occurred at about 22:30 hours on Monday at a place called ‘Buck Man shop’ located at Beterverwagting.
The relative said that Hope seems to have no memory of the attack as he was incapable of giving an account of what exactly transpired.
“All he could say was that it happen at Buck Man Shop, that’s in front of the Community Centre,” she related.
However, after going into the community, they were able to gather enough reports from the villagers to implicate Henry, who lives a few houses from where Hope resides.
A report was lodged at the Beterverwagting Police Station and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
