Dear Mr. Editor,
We wish to register our support for the Buxton Sports Club’s recent claims of discrimination and unacceptable conduct of the illegally constituted Demerara Cricket Board.
We have been eagerly awaiting the passage of the Cricket Administration Bill 2012 (CAB 2012), which is expected to bring order, transparency and proper accountability to our badly damaged cricket culture.
From all appearances the process seems to be dragging on for too long and we are now pleading with the Combined Opposition to use their influence for the speedy passage of this legislation so that our youngsters could have the opportunity to showcase their talent for National and West Indies selection.
We note that there have been many calls from different areas including Berbice, Linden and Georgetown for the long – awaited CAB 2012 to be passed. As Parliament is the highest decision-making forum in Guyana and is represented by the Political Parties who in turn represent the people of Guyana, we expect that the CAB 2012 will be accepted by all and will pave the way for the holding of proper elections for the Guyana Cricket Board and also the three (3) County Boards.
Our dear national game has been in crisis over the past three (3) years and a final resolution is urgently needed.
Raymond Barton, Plaisance Cricket Club
