With less than a week to go before race day for what will be the first Horserace Meet for 2014, over 60 entries have been received for the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) rescheduled one-day Meet fixed for Sunday January 26 at the Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
The race, which was to be held on December 26th 2013 (Boxing Day) and was rained out, will see seven exciting races set for the day with prize monies totaling close to $8M in cash and trophies.
The feature event is for animals classified ‘A’ and lower over 1mile for a first prize of $1M and trophy.
The races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and late entries will not be accepted. The co-feature event is for 3 years old West Indian maiden and Guyana bred horses over six furlongs.
The other events are for F1 and lower horses, the G3 and Lower race, horses classified H and lower, J1 and lower, while there is also a race for horses classified J3 and lower.
Among some of the horses expected to be on show are top 2013 performers – Score Even, Cat Messiah, Treacle, Savion, Run Nana Run, Swing Easy, Silent Night, Gold Rush, Easy to Win, Smarty Light, Prince Bayaya and Fresh Again among other top contenders.
The outstanding jockeys, trainer and stable will all received trophies and other accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organisers.
