The open segment of the Mark Wiltshire 59th Birth Anniversary Dominoes competition commenced last night at Dynasty Sports Bar with teams from Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, West Berbice and West Demerara battling for supremacy.
The corporation zone will start on Sunday at 13:00 hrs at La Belle Sports Club and bar and participating teams are asked to contact Barbara Marshall on 617-0493.
The play offs will begin on January 25 and 26 at La Belle Sports Club and bar. The winning team will pocket a trophy, $175,000 and medals, the runner up a trophy and $80,000 and third place $40,000. The most valuable player in the finals, the player who share the first love in the final and the best female player will receive $5,000 each, while the most outstanding corporation team will collect $6,000. Entrance fee is $9,000.
There will also be a feature match involving East Coast, Georgetown and West Coast Demerara and each team is asked to pay an entrance fee of $15,000.
Among the sponsors so far are Faye Joseph, Jermain Jackson, Lennox Cush, Eon Moore, George Griffith and Raymond Alli.
