Teenager critical after suicide attempt

A second form Cotton Field Secondary School student is in a critical state at the Suddie Public Hospital. The 14-year-old allegedly ingested a poisonous substance.
There are reports of a misunderstanding between the teenager and a male companion. Reports are that the teenager ingested a quantity of the poisonous substance some time last week and has been hospitalized since.
Several weeks prior, a 17-year-old Walton-Hall boy ingested poison after the girl to whom he proposed turned him down.
He too was hospitalized at the Suddie Public Hospital. Suicide cases are on the rise on the Essequibo Coast and most of the victims are teenagers.
