DEAR EDITOR,
The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) wishes to take this opportunity to further respond to the recent letter published in the Stabroek News’ January 1, 2014, edition and captioned: “Envelopes received from Guyana had been cut open and retaped.”
We wish to thank the writer for the interest shown in the Post Office’s service and wish to assure that we do appreciate the feedback.
As acknowledged in a previous GPOC release published in the June 29, 2013, edition of the Kaieteur News, various mail may be identified by the respective authorities and subjected to routine examinations prior to leaving Guyana. This is the case particularly during instances of sample checks for narcotics. It must be noted that such examinations are out of the Corporation’s remit and control.
Please be advised that the GPOC remains committed to serving all our customers and protecting the integrity of mail entering and exiting our system. Customers with issues as alluded to by the consumer in the print media are requested to contact the GPOC’s Customer Services Department on telephone number 226-3127 for further clarification and/ or to enable us to conduct an investigation if warranted.
