Murder accused Kumar Ranji Singh, 48, a cane cutter of Sixth Street, Johns, Port Mourant on Tuesday pleaded guilty to the charge of manslaughter when he appeared before Justice Diana Insanally at the Berbice High Court.
The man, who is charged with murdering his wife Yaswattee Samaroo called Sunita on Friday 23 July 2010 at Johns, Port Mourant, pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
He is being represented by Attorney at Law Kim Kyte who requested a probation report on her client. Justice Insanally concurred and set the January 15 date for submission of the report and sentencing.
The State is being represented by Attorney at Law Renita Singh who, after reading the incitement did not read the opening address because the accused pleaded guilty.
A post-mortem examination which was conducted by Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan revealed that the woman died from shock and hemorrhage due to an incised wound to the neck.
