– records show 2013 as successful season
United States-based, Euleen Josiah-Tanner opened 2014 on a winning note last Saturday when she won the
CBF 5km race in Atlanta, continuing with what has been a dominant season in 2013 for the South Fulton Running Partners (SFRP), in Atlanta, Georgia.
Josiah-Tanner won the race last weekend in 19:51:20, which added to her 13 titles last year alone according to the SFRP, in a letter copied to Kaieteur Sport and the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG).
“The SFRP has the distinction of being one of the oldest African-American running clubs in the United States. Euleen Josiah-Tanner is a member of the SFRP. I am writing to commend her for outstanding membership and achievements and recommend her for Guyana’s highest athletic honour,” General Coordinator of the SFRP, Marvin Chapman said in the letter.
Chapman noted that Euleen “has always been first in showing a competitive drive and an enthusiasm for running. In 2013, Euleen finished first overall in 13 races,” he continued in his missive.
Additionally, Euleen won the SFRP Award for ‘Most Miles Run in a Year’ with a record-setting 5,019 miles. Euleen also won the first place SFRP ‘Fitness Award’ for her participation in club runs and competitive races. “When it comes to competition, Euleen has developed a reputation for leading from the front,” Chapman said.
According to the SFRP Coordinator, Euleen is SFRP’s loudest and most passionate cheerleader, who encourages other SFRP members to do their best. “With her encouragement, I achieved my best time in the 2013 Peachtree Road Race, the largest 10k race in the United States,” Chapman reminded of the value of Josiah-Tanner to the organisation.
