– Morgan, Johnson win Bigi Broki Waka titles in Suriname
Guyanese continued to dominate the regional distance-running landscape on Sunday when
Alika Morgan and Kelvin Johnson pose with their trophies in Suriname after winning their male and female categories respectively at Bigi Broki Waka 10km Road Race on Sunday.
Alika Morgan and Kelvin Johnson won the female and male titles respectively of the Bigi Broki Waka 10km Road Race competition in neighbouring Suriname.
Morgan won the female overall title in 41:47 with IIsida Toemere second in 44:31 and Caroline Marlet third in 44:39. Morgan told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that she was happy with the run that opened her 2014 Season.
Meanwhile, in the male race, Kelvin Johnson raced to 33:34 ahead of another Guyanese, Lionel D’Andrade, who had 36:24 and Chomeynie Pines (37:15). Johnson and D’Andrade are based in the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. D’Andrade was defending champion in the race after winning for the last two years.
